I. Background

The Pak Alliance for Maths and Science (PAMS) is a non-profit organization that aims to inspire a love for learning and to develop cognitive and critical thinking abilities in Pakistani children.

PAMS provides technical support to federal and provincial education departments, donor agencies, and partner organizations in implementing scalable STEAM and foundational learning (reading and numeracy skills) solutions in government schools. The organization also conducts research on education policy.

PAMS’ head office is in Islamabad, with policy unit teams also based in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar.

II. Why We Are Hiring

PAMS is implementing a number of technical assistance projects with federal and provincial education departments, supporting the development and operationalization of multiple education initiatives.

Our flagship programs include:

  • STEAM Pakistan

  • Support to provincial school education departments in implementing foundational learning policies

The Finance team plays a key role in ensuring systems efficiency and regulatory compliance across offices, teams, and projects.

III. Scope of Work

The Associate, Finance will report to the Lead, Finance and will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and submitting monthly donor financial reports on time

  • Ensuring compliance with donor templates and contractual requirements

  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliation statements

  • Ensuring monthly payment of applicable taxes and timely filing of tax returns

  • Managing petty cash transactions and maintaining proper controls

  • Maintaining accurate cashbooks and reconciling balances regularly

  • Maintaining complete and organized financial records for audits

  • Filing all financial documents (physical and digital) in accessible formats

  • Liaising with banks for transactions, confirmations, and issue resolution

  • Following up on pending payments or receipts

  • Preparing and maintaining up-to-date accounts payable and receivable ledgers

IV. Qualifications Required

  • A four-year undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting

  • Preference for candidates at ACCA Skills/Professional Level, CA Intermediate, or ACMA Stage 3

  • Minimum one year of experience in finance/accounting within a small or medium enterprise

  • Demonstrated skills in QuickBooks and MS Excel

V. Deployment

  • Location: Islamabad (with occasional field travel)

  • Contract Duration: Till 31st March 2026, with the possibility of extension upon review
